Job summary

A proactive and results-oriented Business Development Engineer is sought to identify new business opportunities and foster relationships in the backflow prevention, valve, and automation sectors. This role emphasizes a strong technical foundation and strategic sales skills to enhance market presence and revenue growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 3 years of experience in business development or technical sales related to backflow prevention, valves, or automation.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial processes, water systems, and automation technologies.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and manage time efficiently, with a willingness to travel.
  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute strategic business development plans to increase market share.
  • Identify and nurture new business opportunities with industrial, municipal, and commercial clients.
  • Offer technical expertise and support regarding backflow prevention, valves, and automation solutions.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with engineers, contractors, distributors, and end-users.
  • Conduct product presentations, training, and demonstrations for clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to tailor solutions to client needs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market changes, and competitive activities.
  • Produce sales forecasts, reports, and performance analyses.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by effectively addressing technical inquiries and resolving issues.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of backflow prevention standards, including ASSE, ANSI, and AWWA is preferred.
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales and business development goals.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.

Tools

  • Familiarity with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
