Job summary

The role of Senior Quantity Surveyor involves comprehensive commercial management of projects within the Data Centre team. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, risk management, and maximization of commercial returns. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the overall business performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Training in commercial management, dispute resolution, and contract law
  • Training in leadership, delegation, presentation, and communication skills
  • Training in behavioral-based safety and risk management
  • Chartered membership of RICS, CIOB, or equivalent (desirable)
  • CPD in legislation, industry trends, and advanced commercial management practices (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial strategy and adapt it as necessary
  • Represent the company in commercial and contractual matters
  • Oversee procurement activities and manage final accounts
  • Prepare financial forecasts and manage variations
  • Maintain project risk and opportunity registers
  • Mentor and oversee junior commercial staff
  • Ensure accurate commercial reporting and support pre-construction teams
  • Interpret contract law and manage complex subcontract agreements
  • Engage with stakeholders on commercial matters

Skills

  • Strong commercial awareness and innovative cost management abilities
  • Ability to influence and support project teams
  • Knowledge of industry trends and participation in CPD

Tools

  • Familiarity with NEC and JCT contract forms
  • Proficiency in commercial reporting and financial management tools
