Senior Network & Security Engineer

Job summary

This role involves overseeing and enhancing the networking infrastructure within the organization, focusing on both wired and wireless networks to ensure reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with wired and wireless networks across multiple office locations.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, VLANs, firewall policies, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
• Proven experience in implementing network segmentation and access-control solutions such as RADIUS and 802.1X.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations and development of office networks, including switching, routing, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Design and maintain secure network segmentation and access controls based on least-privilege principles.
• Monitor and enhance wireless network performance and reliability.
• Operate and optimize network and endpoint security controls, addressing any threats.
• Lead network changes and incidents, ensuring effective communication and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with ISPs, vendors, and contractors while transitioning routine operations in-house.
• Maintain comprehensive network documentation and diagrams.
• Share knowledge with the IT team to establish secure practices for network support and changes.

Skills

• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity.
• Ability to manage business-critical network infrastructure independently.
• Security-focused mindset with an emphasis on risk reduction and clear standards.
• Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education

• Relevant technical certifications or equivalent experience in network engineering or security.

Tools

• Familiarity with network platforms such as Fortinet, Juniper, or Mist, and experience with network monitoring and detection tools is advantageous.
