Job summary

The Senior Health & Safety Manager is responsible for providing operational support to project teams, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environment, quality, and wellbeing standards on-site. This role involves leadership and management of health and safety practices within a construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • At least 12 years as a Health and Safety professional.
  • CMIOSH & member of IEMA (or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in managing and developing direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong health and safety leadership at the campus level.
  • Support the Campus Project Director and Project Manager in health and safety matters.
  • Lead a team of 2-4 Campus-based Health & Safety Managers.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of company standards and policies.
  • Conduct Health Checks, Inspections, and Risk Reviews as per policy.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents and communicate lessons learned.
  • Monitor health and safety performance and prepare reports.
  • Act as the main point of contact for enforcement agencies.
  • Stay updated on legislation to provide competent health and safety advice.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Ability to influence and empathize in relevant situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Leadership and assertiveness skills.

Education

  • Ideally a qualification in engineering or construction technology/management.
  • Additional training in areas such as incident investigation and lifting operations awareness.

Tools

  • Familiarity with health and safety management tools and software.
