Job summary

This role involves providing operational support to project teams in the construction sector, ensuring adherence to health, safety, environment, quality, and wellbeing standards on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit strong health and safety leadership at the campus level.
  • Support and guide the Campus Project Director and Project Manager.
  • Act as the primary contact for health and safety matters with clients and their representatives.
  • Lead a team of 2-4 health and safety managers on-site.
  • Assist in implementing company health and safety strategies.
  • Conduct health checks, inspections, and risk reviews as per policy.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents and communicate lessons learned.
  • Monitor health and safety performance and prepare reports.
  • Ensure adequate health and safety coverage and alert management of potential issues.
  • Stay updated on legislation to provide competent health and safety advice.
  • Identify training needs for self and team members.
  • Coach staff on health and safety standards and expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the construction industry and as a health and safety professional.
  • CMIOSH and IEMA membership (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in IT and capable of anticipating changes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

Education

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ideally, a qualification in engineering or construction management.

Tools

  • Familiarity with health and safety management systems and relevant legislation.
  • Experience with incident investigation and auditing processes.
