Job summary

The role involves leading the development and transformation of a data platform that supports analytics, AI, and data-driven decision-making within a MedTech company. The Principal Data Engineer will shape the technical direction of the Databricks platform, ensuring scalability and governance to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience in designing, building, and operating modern cloud-based data platforms, ideally in large organizations or consulting environments.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with cloud-based data platforms and technologies, preferably Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
  • Solid software engineering skills in Python, SQL, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience in establishing scalable platform architectures and governance frameworks.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style with experience in federated environments.
  • Passion for data, AI, and digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transformation of the Databricks platform into an AI-ready foundation.
  • Define and evolve enterprise-wide standards for data platform architecture and governance.
  • Enable and guide domain data teams through technical leadership and best practices.
  • Contribute hands-on to development and drive platform consistency.
  • Drive planning and prioritization across the data lifecycle.
  • Optimize platform operations and governance of Databricks usage.
  • Identify and drive adoption of new platform capabilities and AI technologies.
  • Promote a culture of data excellence and improve data literacy across the organization.
