Postdoctoral Researcher in Network Modeling and Process Simulation

Job summary

This role focuses on advancing sustainable biomanufacturing technologies through the development of microbial cell factories and scalable bioprocesses. The position involves interdisciplinary collaboration to establish new industrial routes for essential chemicals in a low-carbon economy.

Qualifications

• PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Proven experience with GUI-based and code-based applications for optimizing process simulations and environmental assessments.
• Strong understanding of techno-economic assessment and value chain analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in delivering time-sensitive tasks.
• Ability to collaborate with international academic and industrial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design frameworks for decision-making regarding microbially produced chemicals and proteins.
• Establish mathematical models for production systems based on various feedstocks.
• Identify and rank sources of feedstocks and supply chains.
• Lead GUI-based and computational programming efforts.
• Develop detailed process simulations and perform techno-economic and life cycle assessments.
• Create tools in Python for team communication and data dissemination.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify benefits and challenges of novel products.
• Synthesize findings into actionable insights and recommendations.

Skills

• Expertise in techno-economic assessments and value chain analysis.
• Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

• A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.
