This position involves conducting research on the stability and control of converter-based power systems, focusing on future energy systems that rely heavily on power electronics, offshore wind, and HVDC-connected grids. The role emphasizes collaboration in a dynamic research environment aimed at addressing challenges in system stability and resilient operation.

Qualifications

  • PhD (or nearing completion) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control, or a related discipline.
  • Strong foundation in power system dynamics and control or converter controls.
  • Familiarity with analytical, numerical, or simulation-based methods.
  • Proficient communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research on stability and control of converter-dominated power systems.
  • Develop and analyze modeling and control frameworks for power electronic converters.
  • Publish research findings in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Collaborate with international academic and industrial partners.
  • Supervise and mentor MSc and PhD students as per interest.
  • Engage in research project development, execution, and dissemination activities.

Skills

  • Knowledge of converter control (grid-forming/grid-following).
  • Understanding of HVDC systems or offshore wind integration.
  • Experience with electromagnetic transients (EMT) modeling and simulation tools like PSCAD.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with RTDS and/or OPAL RT.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work across control, power systems, and energy system design.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.
