About the role

Job summary

A PhD position is available focusing on the synthesis and experimental analysis of ABC-miktoarm star block copolymers. The research aims to explore how the molecular characteristics of distinct polymer blocks influence their nano-scale self-organization in various states.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Strong skills in chemical synthesis, preferably in polymer synthesis using ionic methods, or experience in inorganic/organic synthesis.
  • Experience with electron microscopy.
  • Knowledge in physical chemistry or solid-state physics is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize and characterize ABC star block copolymers to assess their ordered phase formation.
  • Conduct chemical characterization and purification of synthesized materials.
  • Analyze the transition from ordered to disordered states using rheology.
  • Collaborate with a postdoc for structural characterization using electron microscopy and small-angle scattering techniques.
  • Participate in undergraduate teaching activities.

Skills

  • Proficiency in chemical synthesis and characterization techniques.
  • Familiarity with rheology and microscopy methods.
  • Strong communication skills in English.

Education

  • Required: Two-year master's degree or equivalent.

Tools

  • Chemical synthesis equipment, electron microscopy, rheology instruments, small-angle scattering techniques.
