A 1-year postdoctoral position is available focusing on accelerating the cheese ripening process through microbial solutions. The role involves laboratory trials and optimization of food-grade microorganisms for practical applications in the dairy industry.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in microbiology.
  • Proven experience in metabolic engineering, particularly with recombinant microorganisms.
  • Familiarity with fermentation processes and bioreactor operations.
  • Practical skills in HPLC for quantifying cheese-related compounds.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize lactic acid bacteria for enhanced performance.
  • Conduct laboratory cheese trials and assess ripening by quantifying relevant compounds.
  • Test successful solutions at a Danish dairy on a larger scale.
  • Oversee the optimization of selected food-grade microorganisms.

Skills

  • Strong background in microbiology and metabolic engineering.
  • Experience with fermentation and bioreactor management.
  • Proficiency in HPLC techniques.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline is required.

Tools

  • Laboratory equipment for microbiological analysis and HPLC systems.
