Job summary

This position offers a unique opportunity for an experimental scientist to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying virus-induced childhood asthma using advanced human airway cell models. The role focuses on elucidating the connection between the GSDMB gene and airway inflammation, contributing to the development of precision medicine strategies for severe asthma.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
  • Documented hands-on experience with primary airway cell models.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research team.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Solid publication record relative to career stage.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain primary human airway epithelial cell cultures.
  • Conduct experimental work using air–liquid interface (ALI) models.
  • Apply molecular techniques, including siRNA-mediated gene silencing.
  • Utilize CRISPR–Cas9 genome editing to investigate gene function.
  • Generate data, perform statistical analysis, and interpret results.
  • Collaborate with internal and external academic partners.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and disseminate research findings.

Skills

  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with cell culture and gene editing technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is required.
