This position involves establishing a new research line focused on engineering methane monooxygenases for methane conversion. The role combines computational modeling and experimental validation, making it ideal for candidates experienced in structural modeling, molecular simulations, and protein expression.

Qualifications

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, synthetic biology, or a related field
  • Experience in protein modeling and molecular simulations, preferably with membranes
  • Proficiency in Python and scientific data analysis
  • Practical experience with cloning, heterologous protein expression, and bacterial engineering
  • Experience with membrane protein expression is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Establish a computational-experimental pipeline for engineering methane monooxygenases
  • Design enzyme variants using structure-based computational tools
  • Conduct molecular dynamics simulations of large complexes, including membrane systems
  • Construct and analyze membrane environments to evaluate protein stability
  • Clone and express enzyme variants in bacterial hosts
  • Optimize expression systems, including construct design and induction conditions
  • Engineer bacterial hosts through targeted genetic modifications
  • Develop and run assays for methanol production

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools

  • Structure-based computational tools, molecular dynamics simulation software, cloning and expression systems.
