Job summary

This position focuses on advancing low-carbon cement research through the synthesis and characterization of calcium carbonate phases and their interactions with cementitious materials. The role involves hands-on experience with advanced equipment and computational modeling to analyze reactions across various scales.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in cement chemistry, chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biomineralization, or related fields.
  • Experience with early-age and in-situ characterization techniques of cementitious materials.
  • Familiarity with Raman Imaging and Atomic Force Microscopy is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English are required.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize calcium carbonate phases and monitor their evolution in different environments.
  • Characterize calcium carbonate growths and their interactions with cementitious phases using techniques such as RAMAN imaging, Atomic Force Microscopy, XRD, SEM, and multiscale mechanical testing.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on the PolYCEM project.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier journals and present at conferences.
  • Engage in teaching and supervising PhD and MSc student projects as needed.
