About the role

Job summary

A PhD position is available in the field of industrial biotechnology, focusing on the development of biocatalysts for sustainable chemical processes. The role involves research in enzyme engineering and structural biology, with an emphasis on applying biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Previous experience with plant UGTs and strong knowledge in biochemistry, protein chemistry, biophysics, and materials science.
  • Proven laboratory skills in protein expression, purification, characterization, and engineering.
  • Experience in enzyme characterization techniques such as DSF, HPLC, SDS-PAGE, and LC-MS.
  • Familiarity with structural protein prediction tools like PyMol, AlphaFold, Chai, and Boltz.
  • Strong data analysis and representation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Shape your research project within the overarching goals of the group.
  • Teach and supervise undergraduate students.
  • Attend international conferences to present research findings.
  • Develop intellectual property and business cases related to research outcomes.
