Job summary

A PhD position is available focusing on solving challenges in Quantum Field Theory, with a start date by the end of summer 2026. The doctoral program will last for three years, and candidates will engage in research related to quantum gravity, quantum field theory, and lattice field theory.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in theoretical physics with relevant research experience.
  • Proven knowledge in quantum gravity, including effective quantum metric descriptions and string theory.
  • Experience with conformal field theory, semiclassical methods, and renormalization group techniques.
  • Familiarity with lattice methodologies and applications of quantum computing and artificial intelligence in field theory.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on quantum gravity and its implications in black hole and wormhole physics.
  • Explore conformal window dynamics in gauge theories and develop effective field theories.
  • Investigate novel lattice methodologies for strongly coupled theories and their applications in standard model physics.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in theoretical physics.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
  • Proficiency in English for academic writing and communication.

Education

  • A Master’s degree in theoretical physics or a closely related field is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with quantum computing tools and artificial intelligence applications in research is advantageous.
