Job summary

A PhD position is available focusing on antimicrobial resistance and environmental molecular microbiology. The research aims to investigate how environmental conditions affect bacterial susceptibility to antimicrobial agents, particularly the activity of resistance genes.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Experience in general microbiology and bacterial cultures.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including DNA work, PCRs, and cloning.
  • Familiarity with protein extraction methods.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments testing bacterial strains under varying environmental conditions.
  • Construct iso-genic strains with different resistance genes and assess the impact of environmental changes.
  • Purify resistance proteins and evaluate their activity.
  • Perform competition experiments with tested strains.
  • Analyze experimental data, draw conclusions, and present findings at meetings and conferences.
  • Write reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and contribute to group discussions and project planning.

Skills

  • Strong background in microbiology and molecular biology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a research environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting research findings.

Education

  • A master's degree in a relevant field is required.
