Job summary

A PhD position is available for research focused on modeling new magnetic composites using high performance computing techniques. The project aims to develop a heavy-rare-earth-free permanent magnet through a nano-composite of magnetic materials, utilizing advanced numerical modeling methods.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Fortran or other compiled programming languages.
  • Experience with numerical methods and parallelization techniques.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage complex tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance high performance computing numerical methods within the MagTense micromagnetic model.
  • Simulate and analyze the physics of magnetic nano-composites, focusing on their magnetic properties and material interactions.
  • Collaborate with partners to validate modeling results against experimental data.
  • Publish findings in the open-source MagTense framework to contribute to future simulations in magnetism.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or an equivalent academic level is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with MagTense, CUDA for parallel computing, and interfaces with Matlab and Python is beneficial.
