About the role

Job summary

A 3-year PhD fellowship is available in the field of chemistry, focusing on the development of novel solvents for CO2 valorisation using advanced experimental methods. Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in experimental organic chemistry, organometallics, catalysis, CO2 chemistry, and gas handling is advantageous.
  • Strong independent work ethic and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, synthesize, and apply novel ionic liquids for carbon capture and utilization.
  • Conduct detailed solvent analysis to map reaction pathways.
  • Optimize a hybrid catalytic system through experimental methods.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervising BSc and MSc student projects.
  • Disseminate research findings to peers and the public.

Skills

  • Strong background in organic synthesis and catalysis.
  • Familiarity with spectroscopic and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary research setting.

Education
