PhD Researcher in Greenhouse Gas Mitigation (Agriculture, Remote)

Job summary

This position offers two PhD scholarships focused on greenhouse gas mitigation in the agricultural sector, emphasizing GHG quantification and mitigation technologies. The research will involve collaboration with various stakeholders and aims to enhance understanding of methane emission reduction strategies.

Qualifications

• Educational background in environmental engineering or a related field.
• Experience in laboratory or field studies is preferred.
• Interest in hands-on research involving field measurements.
• Ability to work independently and plan work in consultation with supervisors.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Valid driver’s license required for fieldwork.
• Familiarity with organizing and analyzing large datasets using tools like Excel or Python.
• A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic qualification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field measurements using advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with external partners for extensive fieldwork across various farms in Denmark.
• Focus on different GHG mitigation technologies, including modeling microbial methane oxidation in biofilters.
• Contribute to the documentation required for the Danish National Inventory Report submitted to the UNFCCC.

Skills

• Experience with numerical modeling, particularly with COMSOL, is advantageous.
• Proficiency in data analysis and management.

Education

• Candidates must hold a two-year master's degree or equivalent.

Tools

• Analytical instrumentation for field measurements.
• Software for data analysis, such as Excel or Python.
