Job summary

A PhD position is available for research in experimental soft matter and biological physics, focusing on active liquid crystals. The project aims to explore the mechanisms behind cell layer shapes for applications in biomaterials and soft robotics.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physics or equivalent research experience
  • Prior experience in experimental physics
  • Interest in biological physics
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research under supervision
  • Maintain cell cultures and utilize optical microscopy and micro-fabrication techniques
  • Engage in teaching and outreach activities
  • Present research findings in group meetings, written articles, and conferences

Skills

  • Documented research experience in experimental soft matter physics or biophysics (preferred)
  • Coursework in soft matter, biophysics, or liquid crystals (preferred)
  • Hands-on experience in cell culture and wet-lab work (preferred)
  • Experience with 3D laser printing or bioprinting (preferred)

Education

  • Master's degree in physics or related field
