Job summary

This position involves research in biophotonics focused on enhancing imaging depth and sensitivity in optical coherence tomography for pancreatic cancer detection. The role is part of an international collaboration aimed at developing innovative diagnostic technologies.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in applied physics, biophotonics, or photonics engineering.
  • Strong background in optics, photonics, optical imaging, and data processing.
  • Laboratory skills in relevant areas are essential.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate the relationship between tissue optical properties, offset magnitude, spatial resolution, and imaging depth using spatial offset optical coherence tomography (SO-OCT).
  • Develop models for extracting optical properties from SO-OCT images, including scattering coefficient and birefringence.
  • Conduct experimental investigations on human and animal pancreas tissue to improve cancer detection.
  • Collaborate with an international team and co-supervise BSc and MSc students.
  • Publish findings in journals and present at scientific conferences.

Skills

  • Expertise in tissue optics and photonics lab work.
  • Familiarity with AI modeling for cancer detection.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • Required: Two-year master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

Tools

  • Experience with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and related imaging technologies.
