About the role

Job summary

This role involves overseeing food safety and quality management for the Processed category (Condiments, Sauces, and Pastes) across international suppliers. The position requires collaboration with various teams and suppliers to ensure compliance with food safety standards and improve product quality.

Qualifications

  • A science-based degree (e.g., Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Food Safety/Quality Management within the food industry, particularly with processed foods.
  • Proven experience in auditing food manufacturers against GFSI standards (e.g., BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000).
  • Strong understanding of EU food safety legislation and allergen management.
  • Excellent professional English skills; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe (approximately 20% travel expected).

Responsibilities

  • Lead food safety and quality management for the Processed category across international suppliers.
  • Conduct on-site supplier audits and approval visits to ensure compliance with EU food safety legislation.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new suppliers and products, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Drive strategic quality improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Manage supplier performance metrics and follow up on corrective actions for quality incidents.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence suppliers across different cultures.
  • Pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset, capable of decision-making under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Google Suite and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).

Education

  • A degree in a relevant scientific field is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with auditing tools and quality management systems related to food safety.
