Head of External Sterile Operations (Pharmaceuticals, Europe)

Job summary

This role is responsible for the strategy, governance, and performance of a segment of the external manufacturing network within the Sterile Vertical. The Head of External Sterile Operations leads a team of External Operations Managers and manages senior-level supplier relationships across various operational aspects.

Qualifications

• Over 15 years of experience in sterile operations
• Significant experience with third-party manufacturing or CDMO relationships in regulated industries
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
• Strong background in supplier relationship management and network operations
• Experience in leading negotiations with external partners
• Familiarity with supply chain, manufacturing, technical operations, or quality roles involving third-party suppliers
• Experience in managing escalations and performance issues
• Prior leadership experience managing teams across complex operations
• Preferred experience in sterile manufacturing and supply chain management

Responsibilities

• Lead a team managing assigned CDMO relationships
• Own strategy and performance of external manufacturing partners
• Conduct senior-level supplier relationship management
• Facilitate executive governance meetings and performance discussions
• Negotiate commercial and capacity agreements with CDMOs
• Collaborate with Global Supply Planning on supply strategy
• Manage escalations and recovery for operational issues
• Drive alignment across various functions including Supply Chain and Quality
• Develop external operations standards and governance practices
