Job summary

The Regional Commercial Leader for Biotech in EMEA will define and implement the commercial strategy for the region, leading a business development team focused on driving revenue growth and market expansion within the biotech sector. This role is accountable for regional performance, including revenue and team effectiveness, and aims to enhance the organization's presence in underpenetrated markets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Over 15 years of experience in CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech commercial roles, with at least 7 years in leadership positions managing business development teams.
  • Proven track record in leading new business-focused sales teams and achieving significant revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of territory-based sales models and the ability to drive performance through effective market coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Biotech EMEA business development team, managing a group of 9 professionals.
  • Own and achieve regional revenue and profitability targets for a large-scale biotech portfolio.
  • Define and execute the commercial strategy, including market prioritization and opportunity development.
  • Lead complex deal execution, including strategic proposals and high-value negotiations.
  • Monitor team performance and address gaps proactively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align commercial strategy with operational capabilities.
  • Utilize market intelligence to refine strategies and identify growth opportunities while maintaining executive-level client engagement.

Skills

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to translate strategy into measurable results.
  • Proven success in leading territory-based sales teams in the CRO or biotech/pharma services environment.
  • Deep understanding of CRO business models and biotech client needs.
  • Advanced negotiation and deal strategy skills.
  • Excellent leadership capabilities with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • High organizational agility and cultural awareness to operate across multiple EMEA markets.
