Job summary

The role involves ensuring the implementation of a safety management system on-site, adhering to safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a Health & Safety role
  • Diploma in Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work (SHWW) or equivalent
  • Preferably a background in construction
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the MSL ISO45001 safety management system is fully implemented on-site
  • Plan for adequate safety provisions in projects
  • Ensure supervisors comply with safety statements and statutory requirements
  • Inspect plant and machinery for compliance with regulations
  • Verify the competence of personnel assigned to the site
  • Ensure sub-contractors are aware of and comply with safety policies
  • Maintain a daily presence on-site and check safety permits
  • Conduct weekly safety audits and toolbox talks
  • Attend safety inspections and complete method statements and risk assessments
  • Promote participation in the Safety Behavioural Program
  • Log and track safety observations and near-miss reports
  • Inspect plant and equipment weekly and update registers
  • Maintain training needs analysis and safety records
  • Order and control PPE issuance
  • Attend monthly safety reviews and various safety meetings

Skills

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to promote safety culture and compliance

Education

  • Diploma in Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work (SHWW) or similar qualification

Tools

  • Safety management system tools, inspection checklists, risk assessment templates
