About the role

Job summary

The role involves providing on-site desktop support, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems and peripherals for users. The engineer will be responsible for installing, upgrading, and repairing hardware and software, as well as managing user accounts and ensuring compliance with warranty requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field or 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification
  • A+ certification
  • Strong technical knowledge of PCs, desktop hardware, and operating systems (Windows, Apple, Mac)
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and enterprise backup software

Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and other authorized applications
  • Perform preventative maintenance and remedial repairs on computers and peripherals
  • Manage and document hardware and software inventory
  • Provide user data and application recovery support
  • Monitor and analyze incoming support requests to develop trends
  • Collaborate with IT team members on new branch builds and upgrades

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Good planning and organizational skills

Education

  • Relevant technical certifications and experience in desktop support

  • Diagnostic tools for troubleshooting
  • Remote-control tools for support
  • Software applications used within the organization
