Our purpose is to bring hope to life by enabling life-changing therapies for patients around the globe, creating a healthier and happier tomorrow. Our mission is to work side by side with our customers in order to improve patients’ lives by bringing new biopharmaceuticals to market.

Vice President, Business Development – Global Accounts (EU)

At AGC Biologics, our purpose is to bring hope to life by enabling life-changing therapies for patients around the globe. In this role, you will help turn that purpose into strong customer partnerships, commercial growth, and long-term impact across some of the most important biopharmaceutical companies in the industry.

As Vice President, Business Development – Global Accounts (EU), you will take the lead on selected strategic accounts headquartered in Europe and work closely with colleagues across business development, operations, and marketing to expand our presence, strengthen customer relationships, and convert opportunities into meaningful business. This is a role for an experienced commercial leader who knows how to navigate complex organizations, build trust at senior levels, and move opportunities forward in a focused and structured way.

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer Christoph Winterhalter, you will play an important role in executing our global account ambitions and helping shape continued commercial growth in the region. The position will belong to the BD Leadership Team.

A pivotal role in strategic account growth

You will be responsible for driving sales activities toward selected large biopharmaceutical customers, ideally among the top 30 globally. The role combines strategic account planning with strong day-to-day commercial leadership, and success will come from your ability to identify opportunities, build momentum, and guide complex discussions from early engagement through to signed agreements.

You will develop account plans, establish clear engagement strategies, and maintain a strong pipeline across your target customer group. You will also lead customer-facing activities such as proposals, meetings, site visits, and follow-up plans, ensuring that each opportunity is progressed with clarity and purpose.

This is a role with significant visibility and a clear commercial mandate. You will be expected to deliver against annual sales and revenue goals, while also contributing to longer-term growth by strengthening our position with large global customers.

What you will be driving

Your focus will be on building and growing business with selected strategic accounts and ensuring that opportunities are progressed effectively across the full commercial cycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing account plans that support sales growth, pipeline development, and long-term customer partnerships
  • Leading customer engagement activities, including meetings, proposals, site visits, follow-up strategies, and commercial discussions
  • Identifying, opening, advancing, and closing business development opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Coordinating internal stakeholders across technical, legal, financial, operational, and commercial functions to support complex opportunities
  • Supporting contract negotiations and helping ensure timely progress on agreements such as MSA, CSA, and partnership arrangements
  • Bringing relevant market insight back into the business to strengthen decision-making, positioning, and commercial focus

You will also work closely with the broader global business development organization and contribute to shared priorities, knowledge, and commercial direction across the business.

A collaborative commercial environment

This role is closely connected to the European Regional Business Development Team, Business Development Operations, and Marketing, and success will depend on your ability to work effectively across functions, sites, and disciplines.

You will be joining an environment where commercial ambition goes hand in hand with collaboration. The work is fast-paced and international, but also relationship-driven and team-oriented. Internally, you will need to build alignment and credibility across many stakeholders. Externally, you will be expected to represent AGC Biologics with confidence, professionalism, and a strong understanding of customer needs in an evolving market.

Our culture is shaped by Knowledge, Trust, Quality, Ingenuity, Accountability, and Teamwork. These values are not only central to how we work together internally, but also to how we build long-term partnerships with customers around the world.

What will help you succeed

We are looking for a commercially strong and credible leader with experience from the biologics CDMO industry or a closely related sector, and with a clear track record of building business with large pharmaceutical customers.

You likely bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as Chemistry or Biology
  • More than 10 years of success in business development and sales within biologics CDMO or a closely aligned industry
  • Experience working with large pharma companies and managing complex commercial opportunities
  • Strong contract negotiation experience and the ability to move opportunities forward across multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills, combined with a structured and detail-oriented approach

You are likely someone who combines commercial drive with a consultative mindset. You know how to listen, challenge constructively, and build trust in high-stakes discussions. You are comfortable managing multiple opportunities at once, planning around obstacles, and maintaining momentum in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

Fluency in English is required. The role also requires extensive travel, approximately 50–70%.

A master’s degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline would be an advantage.
