Technical Specialist (Marine, Aalborg)

Job summary

This position involves commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation and control systems onboard marine vessels. The role combines technical expertise with customer support, requiring effective communication and problem-solving skills while working closely with ship crews and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Marine Engineering, Automation, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with marine systems, commissioning, automation, or industrial service.
• Familiarity with Siemens PLCs and shipboard automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote diagnostics and real-time support to vessels, coordinating issue resolution with internal teams and external partners.
• Execute commissioning, inspections, and functional testing, participating in sea trials to validate system performance.
• Train vessel crews and service engineers, developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collect and validate performance data, collaborating with engineers to optimize system output.
• Perform PLC diagnostics, software updates, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Support spare parts definition and lifecycle service strategies for long-term system performance.

Skills

Additional requirements

• Strong understanding of air compressor systems, valves, and pneumatic controls.
• Proficient in TIA Portal, PLC diagnostics, and system software deployment.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and installation schematics.
• Willingness to travel globally, including onboard stays and sea voyages.
• Strong focus on safety and compliance with marine service standards.
• Professional representation in customer and partner interactions.
