Job summary

The Technical Specialist for Clinical Laboratory and Medical Devices is responsible for managing a portfolio of clinical laboratory and medical equipment, devices, and instruments. This role involves establishing technical specifications and guidelines for procurement, supporting strategies to enhance country capacity in procurement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in clinical laboratory technologies, biomedical engineering, clinical biology, biotechnology, or related fields. An additional advanced degree in public health or business administration is a plus.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience with hospital laboratory and medical equipment and supporting international programs.
• Hands-on experience in developing countries is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with key partners to create and review policy guidelines in areas of expertise.
• Develop and maintain technical supply specifications for clinical laboratory and medical equipment.
• Provide technical adjudication for procurement tenders and advise on specifications.
• Conduct market research to identify potential procurement sources and innovations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality management system requirements.
• Support the development of cost estimates for equipment and services.
• Assist country offices and partners with needs assessments for program design.
• Contribute to technical capacity building for improved access to products.
