Staff Product Manager (Accounting, Amsterdam)

Job summary

This role focuses on managing the core accounting engine, ensuring it meets legal compliance and operational efficiency across multiple markets. The position requires collaboration with internal teams to define and document entry models and contracts, and to facilitate the migration of legacy systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building or managing a production double-entry engine or statutory accounting core.
• Strong background in accounting, audit, or tax, with exceptional fluency in legal ledger requirements.
• Experience in product management with a focus on platform architecture.

Responsibilities

• Define and document the kernel's entry model and contracts.
• Coordinate with engineering on the kernel and country extension split, including migration paths.
• Generalize statutory foundations into market-agnostic abstractions.
• Validate the kernel's capacity for legacy migration while maintaining audit integrity.
• Establish configurations for VAT rates, charts of accounts, and fiscal periods across markets.

Skills

• Strong platform product management skills, thinking in contracts and interfaces.
• Ability to make architectural decisions with incomplete information and defend them.
• Experience in influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Technical depth to engage in design reviews effectively.
• Fluent in English.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, or related fields.
