Senior Legal Counsel (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves providing legal counsel with a focus on regulatory compliance in the crypto, web3, fintech, and payments sectors. The position requires collaboration with product and business teams to ensure that new products are designed and launched in accordance with applicable regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 4 to 7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in-house, with direct experience in crypto or web3 businesses.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to crypto, web3, fintech, or financial services.
• Familiarity with financial promotions and advertising regulations related to financial or crypto products.
• Experience with trading, brokerage, or market infrastructure regulations.
• Proven ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory issues to non-lawyers.
• Fluency in English; additional languages, particularly Chinese, are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the design and launch of new products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Analyze how products fit within regulatory frameworks and identify necessary licensing or registration changes.
• Produce regulatory analyses on various topics, translating them into actionable business strategies.
• Lead license applications, including preparing submissions and responding to regulator inquiries.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide practical guidance to the business.
• Embed compliance considerations into product design, including AML and KYC requirements.
• Review marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, providing risk assessments and practical suggestions.

Education

• Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification.
