Senior Data Platform Engineer (Remote, Technology)

Job summary

This role focuses on the development and management of a modern data platform during a significant scaling phase, ensuring the reliability and evolution of data systems.

Qualifications

• Over 6 years of experience in data warehousing, analytics engineering, or data platform engineering, preferably in SaaS, fintech, or e-commerce sectors.
• Proficient in Microsoft Fabric or experienced in Azure Synapse / Databricks with a quick learning ability for Fabric.
• Strong SQL/T-SQL skills and experience with Python or PySpark for building ELT/ETL pipelines and analytical models.
• Expertise in Power BI and DAX, including semantic modeling and performance tuning.
• Proven experience in leading migrations from legacy to modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and implementation of Microsoft Fabric across various data components.
• Manage the migration from legacy reporting tools to a governed Fabric semantic layer, ensuring stakeholder engagement and safe decommissioning.
• Enhance data pipelines and establish monitoring, alerting, and data-quality checks.
• Design and implement high-quality Power BI models for various reporting needs.
• Support data integrations from CRM and operational systems, ensuring robust data flows and monitoring.
• Create reliable data ingestion patterns for acquired businesses to streamline future integrations.
• Set standards for data engineering practices, including documentation and governance.
• Mentor team members and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and data engineering standards.

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.
