Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves leading the management and optimization of a global infrastructure that supports enterprise platforms across various environments. The focus is on ensuring high availability, scalability, and security while mentoring team members and translating architectural designs into operational solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant technical certifications.
• 8+ years of experience in a 3rd/4th-line role within an enterprise IT infrastructure environment, or 5+ years in a biomedical IT service environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily delivery and support of global infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, and platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Build, configure, and optimize enterprise technologies such as VMware, Windows Server, Citrix, and Linux.
• Drive cloud operations on AWS and/or Azure, focusing on automation through scripting.
• Manage capacity, business continuity, and disaster recovery processes for platform-hosted systems.
• Collaborate with technical architects to create operational solutions and documentation.
• Implement security controls and ensure compliance with frameworks like ISO 27000.
• Lead cross-functional projects, including system validation and audit readiness.
• Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and vendors globally.
• Mentor peers and contribute to engineering standards and operational excellence.

Skills

• Expertise in virtualization (VMware), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and storage management.
• Proficient in backup and disaster recovery technologies (e.g., Veeam).
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and represent systems in audits.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
