Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers focused on building tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The backend is developed using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in engineering with a focus on secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Strong understanding of system thinking, including defining specifications and ensuring quality.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug technical and business issues as they arise.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform.
• Design interfaces with performance and accessibility in mind.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in software engineering or a related field.

Tools

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, AWS, GitLab, CI/CD tools.
