Job summary

A 2.5-year Postdoctoral Researcher position is available focused on mid-infrared (MIR) optical imaging technologies for industrial non-destructive testing (NDT) applications. The role involves collaboration with academic and industrial partners to develop advanced optical systems for high-resolution imaging and defect detection.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of solid-state light sources and second-order nonlinear optics.
  • Experience in experimental and theoretical work, with knowledge of data acquisition, electronics, and signal processing preferred.

Responsibilities

Personal qualifications

  • Explore methods for up and down conversion of MIR optical light in specified wavelength ranges.
  • Implement a pump laser for the upconversion system.
  • Identify and utilize nonlinear crystals for the required wavelength regions.
  • Synchronize light sources and characterize upconversion efficiency and noise properties.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop and characterize the OCT system.
  • Enthusiastic about optical engineering with a creative and positive mindset.
  • Ability to combine theoretical knowledge with practical execution.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative and informal environment.

Tools

  • Experience with optical systems and laser technologies.
  • Familiarity with hyperspectral imaging techniques.

Education

  • A PhD in a relevant field is required.
