Job summary

This position involves a 2.5-year postdoctoral research role focused on developing mid-infrared (MIR) optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanners for industrial non-destructive testing (NDT). The project aims to enhance defect detection and layer thickness measurement in complex materials using AI technologies.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of solid-state light sources and second-order nonlinear optics.
  • Experience in experimental and theoretical work, with knowledge of data acquisition, electronics, and signal processing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Explore methods for up and down conversion of MIR optical light in specified wavelength ranges.
  • Implement a pump laser for the upconversion system and identify suitable nonlinear crystals.
  • Synchronize upconversion and supercontinuum light sources, characterizing efficiency and noise properties.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop and characterize the upconversion detector and MIR hyperspectral imaging performance.
  • Work on downconversion of a broadband laser in collaboration with external partners.

Education

  • A PhD in a relevant field is required.
