Job summary

This position is for a 2.5-year postdoctoral researcher focused on developing advanced imaging techniques using mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy to improve cancer surgery outcomes. The project aims to create an ultrasensitive imaging system to differentiate between cancerous and benign tissues.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of solid-state laser sources, second-order nonlinear optics, and infrared spectroscopy.
  • Experience in data acquisition, electronics, and image processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Personal qualifications

  • Develop and implement a raster scanning system for MIR hyperspectral imaging.
  • Create integrated MIR illumination and mixing sources for ultra-sensitive detection.
  • Analyze spectral signatures in diffuse reflection mode to assess tissue conditions.
  • Characterize the performance of MIR hyperspectral image acquisition.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals and coordinate with academic and industrial partners.
  • Enthusiastic about optical engineering and design.
  • Ability to combine theoretical knowledge with practical execution.
  • Creative mindset and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
