Job summary

This position is for a 2.5-year postdoctoral researcher role focused on developing advanced multispectral mid-infrared (MIR) microscopy techniques to enhance image guidance for superficial tumor margins in cancer surgery. The project aims to create an ultrasensitive imaging system capable of differentiating between cancerous and benign tissues through innovative spectral analysis methods.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of solid-state laser sources, second-order nonlinear optics, and infrared spectroscopy.
  • Experience in data acquisition, electronics, and image processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a raster scanning system for MIR hyperspectral imaging.
  • Create integrated MIR illumination and mixing sources for ultra-sensitive upconversion detection.
  • Analyze spectral signatures in diffuse reflection mode to identify and quantify tissue medical conditions.
  • Characterize the performance of MIR hyperspectral image acquisition.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals and coordinate work with academic and industrial partners.
