About the role

Job summary

This position involves a 2.5-year postdoctoral research role focused on developing advanced multispectral imaging techniques for cancer surgery applications. The project aims to enhance the differentiation of cancerous tissue from benign tissue using mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of solid-state laser sources, second-order nonlinear optics, and infrared spectroscopy.
  • Experience in data acquisition, electronics, and image processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Personal qualifications

  • Implement a raster scanning system for MIR hyperspectral imaging.
  • Develop integrated MIR illumination and mixing sources for ultra-sensitive detection.
  • Investigate spectral signatures in diffuse reflection mode to identify medical conditions.
  • Characterize the performance of MIR hyperspectral image acquisition.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals and coordinate research efforts with academic and industrial partners.
  • Enthusiastic about optical engineering and design.
  • Ability to combine theoretical knowledge with practical execution.
  • Creative mindset and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Education

  • A PhD in a relevant field is required.
