About the role

Job summary

This position involves modeling the evolution of internal structures in metals during plastic deformation, focusing on the relationship between structural changes and mechanical properties. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team utilizing advanced experimental data to inform and validate modeling techniques.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in materials science, physics, or mechanics
  • Experience with finite-element modeling and/or crystal plasticity simulations
  • Strong programming skills
  • Excellent written communication abilities
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Strong team spirit

Responsibilities

  • Utilize existing crystal plasticity simulation software to predict internal structure evolution in metals during necking and ductile failure
  • Integrate stochastic elements into simulations to address structure formation at smaller scales than typically covered by crystal plasticity

Education

  • A two-year master's degree or equivalent is required.

Tools

  • Crystal plasticity simulation software
