About the role

Job summary

A PhD candidate is sought to engage in a research project focused on enhancing biocircularity in food systems, particularly in reducing food waste. The role involves data collection in various settings, including abattoirs, and applying system thinking approaches to analyze animal disease burdens and socio-economic factors.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in food engineering, food science, veterinary science, epidemiology, biotechnology, biology, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in data management and integrated strategies for food safety and animal health.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Danish is advantageous for industry interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct studies assessing the advantages, barriers, and risks associated with modernized meat inspection.
  • Collaborate with European partners on case projects related to animal health and welfare.
  • Analyze data and disseminate findings through publications and conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of national and European surveillance reporting on zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance.

Skills

  • Data analysis and practical fieldwork experience.
  • Solution-oriented mindset and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Previous experience with national food surveillance data is a plus.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with data management systems and reporting tools related to food safety and epidemiology.
