About the role

Job summary

A PhD candidate is sought to engage in a research project focused on enhancing biocircularity and reducing food waste. The role involves data collection in the field and at abattoirs, as well as utilizing existing data from various sources. Candidates will apply system thinking approaches and contribute to the modernization of data management related to zoonotic and antimicrobial resistance reporting.

Qualifications

  • Background in engineering, food science, or veterinary education.
  • Strong interest in data and integrated strategies for food safety and animal health.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Danish is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct studies assessing risks and benefits in modern meat inspection.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications and conferences.
  • Participate in the development of national and European surveillance reporting.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in relevant fields such as food engineering, food science, veterinary science, epidemiology, biotechnology, or biology.

Tools

  • Experience with national food surveillance data is beneficial.
