Middleware Engineer (Remote, Generalist)

Job summary

We are looking for a Middleware Engineer with strong expertise in Ceph, OpenStack, and Linux Systems Administration to enhance and manage critical infrastructure services. This role involves both strategic contributions and hands-on operational tasks to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our platforms.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with OpenStack in operational or engineering roles, particularly its integration with storage and networking.
• Expertise in Ceph storage administration, including cluster operations and performance tuning in production settings.
• Strong Linux systems administration skills, managing production environments at scale.
• Experience with automation and scripting for operational workflow optimization.
• Knowledge of Linux networking and troubleshooting across distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support OpenStack infrastructure, ensuring stable integration with storage services.
• Administer and optimize Ceph storage clusters, focusing on health, capacity, and performance.
• Conduct comprehensive Linux systems administration, including provisioning and troubleshooting.
• Automate workflows using scripting languages and tools like Ansible.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and implement sustainable improvements.

Skills

• Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as Prometheus or Grafana.
• Understanding of network infrastructure configuration, including switches and routers.
• Knowledge of security best practices in enterprise environments.
• Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Exposure to public cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
