Job summary

This role is a remote individual-contributor legal leadership position focused on supporting the development of complex HR technology products, particularly in payroll and AI. The position requires acting as a strategic legal partner to various teams and translating legal requirements across multiple jurisdictions into actionable product guidance.

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with substantial experience in technology products, especially in HR technology and payroll.
  • Proven experience in product counsel roles within technology, with knowledge of AI/ML legal frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical approach to legal advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel for payroll and AI-enabled products, including assessments and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and other teams to address legal considerations throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Advise on product terms, AI-specific contractual provisions, and compliance with various regulations.
  • Monitor and translate emerging regulations into actionable requirements for product teams.
  • Manage external counsel on complex legal matters and deliver legal training to stakeholders.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of AI regulation, data protection, and employment law.
  • Experience with payroll compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Familiarity with modern collaboration tools and remote work environments.

Education

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification.

Tools

  • Proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools such as Slack, Notion, and Google Drive.
