Lead Data Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves leading the Data Engineering practice, focusing on building and shaping data solutions for high-profile clients while managing a team of engineers. The position requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in data engineering, particularly in building production data pipelines and data warehouses.
• Proven management experience with data teams.
• Strong knowledge of modern data stack technologies including dbt, Airflow, Terraform, and cloud platforms like GCP and Snowflake.
• Excellent architectural skills with a focus on data modeling, quality, and governance.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, and modern engineering workflows (Git, CI/CD).
• Experience in mentoring engineers and fostering collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills, ideally with agency or consulting experience.
• A proactive approach to practice-building and developing new service offerings.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects to establish standards for data pipelines and integrations across various platforms.
• Ensure the adoption of modern data stacks and serve as a technical escalation point for complex challenges.
• Provide strategic guidance to clients on data architecture and identify opportunities for business value.
• Innovate and accelerate practice capabilities, focusing on automation and AI-driven engineering.
• Mentor and coach engineers, enhancing their skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Work with leadership to shape practice direction and growth.
• Partner with various teams to deliver integrated solutions.
