Indirect Tax Manager (Real Estate, Copenhagen/Oslo)

Job summary

The Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing indirect tax projects and ensuring effective operations within the Group Tax team. This role focuses on optimizing VAT structures to align with the organization’s long-term business goals while maintaining compliance across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Law or Finance.
• 6-8 years of experience in indirect taxes, ideally within a multinational group, Big 4, law firm, or tax authority.
• Strong expertise in VAT, particularly in the real estate sector.
• Solid understanding of EU VAT regulations and Scandinavian VAT rules.
• Strategic and structured approach with high professional integrity.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; proficiency in Swedish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive VAT structuring in transactions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor and analyze VAT structures to reduce the overall VAT burden.
• Build relationships with local tax and finance teams for consistency across jurisdictions.
• Manage VAT controversy matters with local teams and external advisors.
• Implement and ensure compliance with VAT group requirements in Sweden and other countries.
• Train accounts payable/accounts receivable teams on VAT handling.
• Standardize VAT processes and advise on ERP and invoicing systems.
• Conduct internal controls and handle VAT audits across jurisdictions.
• Address ad hoc indirect tax matters as directed by the Director of Group Tax.
