Grant Acquisition Manager (International Development, Remote)

Job summary

The Grant Acquisition Manager is responsible for leading the comprehensive pursuit of institutional funding opportunities, from analyzing donor landscapes to developing and submitting proposals. This role is crucial for enhancing competitive positioning by building donor intelligence and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure proposals are compelling and compliant with organizational strategies.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of progressive experience in grant acquisition, proposal development, or business development in the international development or humanitarian sector.
• Proven success in securing competitive grants from major institutional donors such as USG, FCDO, EU, and others.
• Experience in leading cross-functional proposal teams and managing complex bids with budgets over USD 5 million.
• Strong analytical skills for donor mapping and decision-making.
• Ability to develop evidence-based theories of change and logical frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing analysis of donor landscapes to identify and assess funding opportunities, maintaining a strategic pipeline tracker.
• Lead proposal development, coordinating with technical writers and finance teams to create high-quality, compliant proposals.
• Build and maintain relationships with institutional donors and stakeholders, transforming transactional relationships into collaborative partnerships.
• Establish and manage structured workflows for proposal development, utilizing agile methodologies.
• Support award negotiation and ensure smooth transitions to implementation teams, capturing lessons learned for future pursuits.
• Utilize grant acquisition databases and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Education

• University degree in international development, public administration, business, social sciences, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Skills

• Fluency in English, with proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Portuguese being advantageous.

Tools

• Experience with grant acquisition databases, CRM platforms, and proposal templates.
