Global Safety & Security Advisor (Humanitarian, Copenhagen or Middle East)

Job summary

This role involves providing specialized safety and security support across various country programs, ensuring effective risk management and safe program delivery in high-risk environments. The position requires extensive international travel and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety and security management, including advisory roles.
• Significant field experience in high-risk or conflict-affected areas, preferably with an international NGO.
• Relevant academic background, at least a Bachelor's degree.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, particularly in conflict and risk analysis.
• Experience in politically sensitive environments and influencing decision-making.
• Proven ability to deliver training to diverse staff.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French and/or Arabic is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze security and political dynamics affecting operations.
• Provide actionable advice for program decision-making and operational planning.
• Develop and implement country security plans, including risk assessments and SOPs.
• Conduct safety reviews and compliance checks across programs.
• Support crisis management processes and incident reporting.
• Deliver safety and security training to staff and promote a culture of accountability.
• Contribute to safety and security reporting and the development of KPIs.
• Engage with external safety and security networks and represent the organization in relevant forums.
