Job summary

This role focuses on ensuring maritime regulatory compliance and implementing environmental policies for a global fleet. The position is integral to navigating new maritime regulations and promoting sustainable practices within the shipping industry.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of maritime regulations and international legislative frameworks.
  • Sea-going experience as a Nautical or Engine Officer is advantageous.
  • Structured, process-oriented mindset with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience in project management or contribution.
  • Ability to foster relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, particularly with complex topics.
  • Experience in risk assessment is beneficial.
  • Excellent English communication skills, including public speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with international, EU, and regional marine regulations and the Environmental Management System.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain fleet policies and guidance on regulatory issues.
  • Support mandatory reporting requirements, including fuel emissions reporting and EU-CSRD.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and provide advice to fleet and shore-based teams.
  • Engage with authorities to assist in certification and operational readiness.
  • Lead or participate in projects related to marine biodiversity, environmental impact, green fuels, and the circular economy.
  • Align environmental policies and initiatives across various business units.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and assist in setting targets.

Education

  • Relevant educational background in maritime studies or environmental management is preferred.

Tools

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance tools and project management software is a plus.
