Job summary

The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a small product team of engineers, managing team dynamics, and fostering individual growth. This role involves both management and active participation in product development, with a focus on optimizing execution and promoting a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 individuals.
  • Extensive knowledge of backend technologies (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming).
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a history of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Familiarity with designing and implementing automation workflows.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a product team of 3-5 engineers, dedicating 30% of time to management tasks.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineers.
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Redesign engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement verification processes to ensure quality and reliability of outcomes.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and best practices.
  • Ability to inspire and instill confidence in team members.
  • Proficient in automation and AI technologies.

Education

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related field is preferred.

Tools

  • Familiarity with software development tools and methodologies relevant to backend development and automation.
