Job summary

The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a small product team of engineers, focusing on team dynamics and optimizing performance. This role involves both management and active participation in product development, ensuring the team is supported and guided effectively.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 individuals.
  • Extensive background in Backend development (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming).
  • Strong commitment to promoting organizational values.
  • Proven track record of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Familiarity with designing and improving automation workflows.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to inspire and instill confidence in team members.
  • Understanding of team dynamics and a focus on diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a product team of 3-5 engineers, spending 30% of time on management tasks.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineers.
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Redesign engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement verification processes to ensure quality and reliability of outcomes.

Skills

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and best practices.
  • Ability to think in systems and define clear specifications.
  • Solid knowledge of automation and AI capabilities.

Education

  • Relevant experience in engineering management and software development.

Tools

  • Familiarity with automation and AI tools, as well as development environments related to Backend programming.
