Job summary

The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a small product team of engineers, focusing on team dynamics and optimizing performance. This role involves both management and active participation in product development, ensuring the team is well-supported and effective.

Qualifications

• Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 individuals.
• Extensive background in Backend development (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming).
• Strong commitment to promoting organizational values.
• Proven track record of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Familiarity with designing and implementing automation workflows.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and instill confidence in team members.
• Understanding of team dynamics and a focus on diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Manage a product team of 3-5 engineers, dedicating 30% of time to management tasks.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineers.
• Provide continuous feedback and coaching to team members.
• Redesign engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Implement verification loops to ensure quality and reliability of outcomes.

Skills

• Strong engineering fundamentals and knowledge of best practices.
• Ability to think in systems and define clear specifications.
• Experience with automation and AI capabilities.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Tools
