Azure Data Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role focuses on enhancing cybersecurity operations by developing reliable and scalable security data pipelines across cloud and on-premises environments. The position involves working with large volumes of security telemetry to ensure critical data is accessible for threat detection, incident response, compliance, and cyber risk visibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, data engineering, log management, or related fields.
• Proven experience in onboarding, managing, and validating log sources within SIEM or cloud data platforms.
• Strong skills in data parsing, normalization, transformation, and validation, including familiarity with regex, JSON, XML, and both structured and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of security telemetry from various environments including network, endpoint, and cloud.
• Experience with Azure cloud platforms and associated logging and analytics services.
• Proficient in troubleshooting pipeline and data-quality issues.
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory logging requirements.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation tools like Python or PowerShell is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable security data ingestion pipelines for SIEM and cloud platforms.
• Normalize and validate security telemetry data using various data-processing techniques.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to onboard new log sources and ensure data flow integrity.
• Conduct telemetry gap analyses and recommend improvements for security coverage.
• Document log onboarding procedures and operational support processes.
• Monitor pipeline performance and optimize ingestion reliability and costs.
